Oil services company Wood Group Kenny said Thursday it secured an engineering contract to help develop a Scottish carbon capture and storage facility.

Hydraulic fracturing triggered a series of small earthquakes in 2013 on a previously unmapped fault in Harrison County, Ohio, according to a study published in the journal Seismological Research Letters (SRL).
Nearly 400 small earthquakes occurred between Oct. 1 and Dec. 13, 2013, including 10 "positive" magnitude earthquake, none of which were reported felt by the public.

State wide, more of the natural gas associated with shale deposits in North Dakota has been captured, a state energy director said.
North Dakota oil production is setting routine state records, with most of the output coming from the Bakken shale oil area. Gas associated with the oil had been burned off, or flared, because of a lack of infrastructure to capture it.

Chesapeake Energy Corp. said Thursday it was selling its Utica and Marcellus shale assets to rival Southwestern Energy Co. for more than $5 billion.
