Day 3 of Yemen peace talks winds up without progress

A third day of UN-brokered peace negotiations in Kuwait between the Yemeni government and rebels wound up Saturday without progress, sources close to the talks said.
The sources told AFP the two sides remained far apart, especially on the need to firm up a fragile ceasefire that went into effect on April 11.

Bombings targeting security forces in the Baghdad area killed at least eight people and wounded more than 30 on Saturday, security and medical officials said.

US to buy 32 tonnes of heavy water from Iran: official

The United States will buy 32 tonnes of heavy water from Iran to help it scale back its nuclear program, the State Department said Friday.
"This transaction provides US industry with a critical product, while also enabling Iran to sell some of its excess heavy water," spokesman John Kirby said.
